Dig Deep – U10’s & U19’s

May 14, 2020 by ELITEAM Leave a Comment

Dig Deep 2020 Online Summer Training Program

U10 & U19 Athletes Welcome!
Although the Dig Deep program was designed for U12-U16 athletes, U10’s & U19’s are also welcome to participate. In the past couple of weeks we’ve had a lot of inquiries regarding the Dig Deep program and if it’s possible and/or appropriate to have these other age groups participate. The short answer is yes, and we’ve had many sign up already!

U10 Athletes:
The U10’s will be able to do every exercise, however, supervising adults may need to scale down the workouts, so they are appropriate for a younger athlete’s ability and fitness level. Depending on the workout, that will translate into less sets/reps/rounds/weight, or keeping some exercises to “double leg” instead of “single leg”. Since every athlete’s fitness level varies, it will be up to the supervising parent to decide what is appropriate for their own child. On a side note, we’ve had many families express their intention to follow the program together as a family, and we think that’s a great idea!

U19 Athletes:
Since the Dig Deep program is a well-designed and progressive program that covers power, strength, and capacity, which every athlete needs, we think the U19’s could benefit greatly from the program too. However, in terms of intensity, the program does not specifically make recommendations for U19’s, so these older athletes will need to have a supervising adult be responsible for scaling up the exercises, if needed, to make the workouts appropriate for their fitness level. This will translate to adjusting the amount of sets, reps, rounds or weight, as needed.

Weekly Prizes:
The U19’s may not be eligible to win prizes. However, if they’d like take part in the weekly challenges, contests and fun, we would absolutely encourage them to do so and welcome their participation!
