With the coronavirus outbreak, the ski season came to a very abrupt end for all of us. Training and races were instantly wiped off the schedule, mountains closed early and many traditional end-of-season events like awards banquets and pond skimming were cancelled. Never before has this happened. It’s been a huge disappointment for everyone.
Even though it was an abrupt and anti-climatic end to the season, it is still a valuable opportunity to reflect on your own season of training and racing that is now behind you. What did you learn about yourself in terms of ski technique, physical fitness, and mental strength? If you have the ELITEAM Ski Racing Journal, now is the time to fill out the final Chapter, “Season Recap”. If you don’t have the Journal, below are a list of questions for you to ponder.
Write your answers down and share them with your coaches and parents. Keep them in a safe place, as you’ll want to refer to them again down the road. Your answers will point you in the right direction as far as what you need to work on over the next 8 months and when you get back on snow next season. This process will help you create a road map to success on the slopes next winter!
