What a day!!! ELITEAM 2024 started off with our campers pushing themselves in every aspect. They immediately bonded over Team-Building games like the Spider Web, Ring Toss and Balloon Challenges. There was lots of strategy and focus followed by lots of laughing and high fives! While the challenges were taking place, groups also started their Burpee journey ripping off 100 in just 10 minutes! The energy and the “tiredness” factor was high! Shout-outs to Coaches Alex and Emme who lead the Burpees and got in 200 of their own!
Then it was time to Chow Down on pasta, meatballs and broccoli along with some yummy garlic bread and salad! We definitely needed to refuel as after dinner it was off to the field for more Burpees and some Agility craziness. Lastly, we had our journal meeting and went to bed! The rooms were pretty quiet by 9pm!
Every night we pick some campers to fill out some questionnaires. Last night it was some of the girls who shared some of their day!
Today is all about STRENGTH and POWER as we have Hill Sprints as well as work the legs, arms and core! Some more Team-Building agility challenges and of course, Burpees!
We also are sharing some of the photos each day. We will share a BIG file of Camp photos after camp!
Coach Doug
What was your favorite activity today and why?
- Sadie D– I enjoyed check-in because I go to meet new people! It is really fun to meet people with the same ambitions as you.
- Izzy B– Agility ladder because I got to work on my agility while having fun.
- Alyssa J– The relay races. They were super fun because we got to be super competitive with your team!
- Amalka V– The relay races. It was a good way to challenge myself mentally and physically. The races made it more fun.
- Quinn M– The spider web, because I got to be lifted up. And I met new people.
- Tillie K– The spider web. It was a fun challenge to try to get everyone over without touching the ropes.
- Rachel O– My favorite activity was the ring toss, because you had to work together with your partner.
One mental skill you used today and how did you use it?
- Sadie D– I used visualization while doing the ball toss. It helped me connect more throws.
- Izzy B– Visualization in the circle when we were throwing tennis balls.
- Alyssa J– Visualization. When we were doing burpees, I visualized and saw myself being done with them.
- Amalka V– I used self-talk. Self-talk helped me relax myself after I made a mistake I wasn’t so happy about.
- Quinn M– I breathed through my nose, and my coach told me that it helped my body get calmed down. I did it during burpees.
- Tillie K– Today I handled my nerves and used breathing. These things helped my body relax.
- Rachel O– A mental skill I learned was doing something else to distract myself from doing something hard.
What did you learn about yourself today?
- Sadie D– I learned that I enjoy making connections with new people.
- Izzy B– I learned I enjoy making lots of new friends.
- Alyssa J– I learned that I can do 150 burpees in 15 minutes. Now that I know I am capable, I will try to do them more often.
- Amalka V– That I can overcome my mistakes in more than just one way.
- Quinn M– I learned that I can do more than I expect! I just have to be confident.
- Tillie K– I learned that I can do the things I put my mind to.
