We packed a full day into an afternoon and evening with 44 positive athletes ready to push themselves. We challenged the Campers to work together to figure out how to throw, build and conquer the Ring toss, Balloon Tower and Spider web. And although each group tackled them differently, they all worked together.
And they also got their first taste of Burpees by knocking out 100 – 10 at a time in just 10 minutes. Lead by World Cup skier Jimmy Krupka (who ended up doing a total of 400!!!) They crushed them and now know that in just 10 minutes, you can build strength, power, core, agility and most importantly, GRIT. We will be doing 1200 total by pick-up and they are well on their way!
After stuffing themselves with carbs and protein with our pasta and salad bars, they loaded the buses for the short trip to the Killington rec fields for some wild agility. High-knee Butt-kicks, tuck jumps, agility poles and lots of laughing were on tap. Even the Coaches were working hard to figure out the Three-Steps-Per Hole challenge. Oh, and more Burpees!
And then it was time to Journal, meet and head to bed! All was quiet by 9pm!
Today is a full day of Strength – focusing on how strength is the basis of all fitness, upon which you can build power, speed, endurance, capacity and agility.
What was your favorite activity today and why?
- Olivia P– I liked the ring toss the most because it was fun.
- Arianna T– The balloon tower.
- Blake L– Agility poles, because they were super fun.
- Madalyn W– The spider web.
- Amelia H– The relay races. They were fun.
- Chloe B– The field games. Fun to try and get called out for touching a pole.
- Siena H– The agility games because they were fun and good for SL.
One mental skill you used today and how did you use it?
- Olivia P – In the spider web we made a lot of mistakes but we learned from them.
- Arianna T– We had to learn to communicate with one another. If we had not, the balloons would have fallen.
- Blake L– I pushed my limits. Holding the ball between you and your partners head and going down the poles because you had to make eye contact and not look down.
- Madalyn W– Visualization & setting a goal.
- Amelia H– Teamwork.
- Chloe B– Teamwork, cheering on my line.
- Siena H– I did breathwork during a workout. It helps make it easier to rest.
What did you learn about yourself today?
- Olivia P – I learned that I can throw well in ring toss.
- Arianna T– I learned that I am fast blowing up balloons.
- Blake L– I could do 100 burpees in 10 minutes.
- Madalyn W– That I can do 100 burpees in minutes and that it wasn’t that hard.

If you could tell your mom or dad one thing right now, what would it be?
- Olivia P– Have an awesome (but boring) week without me.
- Arianna T– Heeeey love you guys.
- Blake L– The spider web was awesome.
- Madalyn W– I can do more burpees than you.
