After the 6:30 wake-up it was outside to do our morning run, stretching and 50 Burpees. And following fueling up at breakfast, it was time to hit the legendary KMS Hill for a Leg Routine. Today’s focus was Strength. We talked with the Campers about how being strong is the foundation that Power, Agility, Endurance and Speed are built upon. That fired them up to work hard. There was great struggle along with smiles!
On the hill we sprinted, carried, hopped, bounded, tucked, and burpeed up it 15 times at full gas! Every Coach could be seen alongside each age group pushing their limits as well! A couple Campers could be seen out front at the finish a few times!!!
Then we moved onto our rotation of awesomeness; The Berg Und Thal, Fitlight, Quickfeet Slalom and the Obstacle. It seemed like every 3 minutes a group yelled “PB!!!” for a new Personal Best time. The energy of the Campers was infectious as they kept going for run after run!
After refueling at lunch it was time to talk Mental Skills. We listed out all the mental skills that can make or break training and competition and the list was long! Then we focused on creating their Dream Identity and Core Values. This age group is the perfect time to introduce and dig deep into the mental side of sports – from confidence to handling stress to embracing failure.
After the notebook meeting they hit them with more Strength – this time a focus on Core, Arms and Squats. The campers learned a lot. And finally, before dinner it was time to Cool Off with some water balloon fun! And after dinner it was an intense hour game of Swedish Dodgeball. And that finished off both the campers and staff. It was an early night for all! Today we will do some Circuits, some Team Challenges, Tramps, Partner Yoga and cook some Black Bean Brownies. Another big day!
