Today at ELITEAM we… were VERY busy. We started the day with a rainy jog followed by french toast and fresh berries that fueled us into the next hour of testing. Campers made it count on things like the; vertical jump, flexibility, the broad jump, a push up test, sit up test and 40 yard sprint on spin bikes. The rain kept us inside but there was no digging deep to be spared, circuits helped us build our cardio and aerobic base. Campers spent thirty seconds at stations like Med Ball Slam, Bear Crawls, and Wall Sits. They ended their busy morning with an intense game of dodgeball. Grilled cheese on the best Red Hen bread left everyone with smiles and excited to take on the afternoon rotation. Campers got creative with workouts on the TRX bands, cooked up a pumpkin storm and ended with a muddy woods obstacle course. After, everyone sprinted back to their dorms to throw on their 70’s attire. We disco-ed the night away and treated ourselves to pumpkin pecan pie and ice cream! After a quick change campers headed to the theatre to sit back, relax and watch Sandlot. 9:00 lights out!

2. How did today’s training help you become a better athlete (mentally or physically)?
Will: I really pushed my limits during the testing and this helped me mentally because I lived the moment of trying my hardest, and what I felt like afterwards (tired, sore).
Max: It taught me how different muscles can be used and how to better train them.
Lily: I pushed through when I thought I couldn’t do it any longer especially the push-ups and the bikes during testing.
Annie: It helped me mentally because today’s training put me in a good mindset.
Ellie: It helped me to become a better athlete and helped me focus more on what i’m doing before a race or game.
Aiden: It helped me to become a better athlete physically by making me faster and stronger.
Connor: I get stronger so I can set my edge better.
Luke: The TRX improved my strength and the obstacle course improved my endurance.
Lawton: It made me a better athlete because it made me stronger and it helped my mind set with pain and exercise.
Coaches Highlights:
Coach Tasha: I laughed when I saw Lilly using cucumber from lunch on her eyes for “relaxation”.
During cooking I overheard Zander, Tommy and Cortland say: “we gotta have the best pie crust. Ours has to be better than the girls!
Counselor Connor: When talking amongst the campers today I overheard Tyler (who has very curly hair) say “I don’t really need much more for the 70’s theme, because I have my hair”.
Coach Livy: It was awesome to see how psyched Casey was when she and Ellie went from a 1.18 to a 1.11 on the woods obstacle course.
Coach Zack: I added additional segments and challenges to the obstacle course, like the quick feet tires and an added push up challenge. I didn’t think any camper would successfully complete it, and I was amazed when Shane did it perfectly.
Coach Doug: At cooking, Avery and Maddie G added just a little more honey and pecans because “sometimes you can’t always follow the rules, you have to make it count.”
