The sun came out blazing for our first full day of ELITEAM, and so did the campers! We spent the entire day outside, working hard, drinking a TON of water, and refueling often to keep our energy tanks full.

After welcoming our new campers and reconnecting with our ELITEAM veterans, it was time to start turning a group of athletes into a TEAM.
We kicked things off with a blindfolded partner obstacle course that tested communication, trust, and the ability to give very clear directions when your partner could not see a thing!
Next came a BlazePod quickness challenge, where campers worked together to improve their speed, reaction time, and decision-making. We also tackled a team strategy game that included plenty of planning, a whole lot of failing, and some great lessons in regrouping, adjusting, and trying again.
Then came our first major physical challenge: 100 burpees in a row! Everyone suffered together, smiled through the pain, and counted in several different languages, which somehow made the burpees slightly less painful. Slightly.
After all that work, the campers crushed a huge pasta dinner with rolls and salad. Following a little digestion and downtime, we headed right back outside for agility relays. There may have been more laughing than sweating, although the high-knee butt-kicks definitely brought the burn!
We finished the physical portion of the day with 50 more burpees, bringing our Day 1 total to an impressive 150 burpees!
The evening wrapped up with journaling, dorm meetings, showers, visiting with friends, and finally, some very well-earned sleep.
Tomorrow is all about strength, power, and agility, with slalom, Berg und Thal, obstacle courses, and plenty more ELITEAM action packed into the day!
