Session 2 kicked off with sunshine, big energy, and one important mission: turn 43 individual athletes into one strong ELITEAM.
Campers jumped straight into a mix of physical and mental team challenges. Blindfolded athletes were guided through an obstacle course while carrying full cups of water, partners chased perfect scores in ring toss, and teams worked together to hit numbered targets as quickly and strategically as possible.
Each challenge required communication, trust, leadership, and a plan. On their own, many of the tasks would have felt impossible. Together, the campers studied the problem, adjusted their strategy, encouraged one another, and found a way forward.
Then came their first major test: 100 burpees in a row! In the heat of the day, they dug deep, stayed together, and completed all 100 in just ten minutes. An impressive first glimpse of the grit this group already possesses!
After refueling with pasta and salad, we headed back outside for 50 more burpees and some seriously fun relays. The movements started simple, then quickly evolved into ELITEAM classics like Molly Hops, Opposite Skipping, and the always-challenging High-Knee Butt-Kicks. There was plenty of effort, plenty of laughter, and teammates cheering each other through every round.
We finished the night with journaling, showers, and lights out at 9:00. By 9:01, the dorms were quiet and most campers were already asleep!
Tomorrow is Strength and Power Day, with a mental focus on resilience, grit, and perseverance. The campers will learn how to use those skills when the workouts get tough and the legs start asking questions. Session 2 is officially rolling!
