Tuesdays at camp are all about one thing: Strength! Today, our campers discovered how strength is the foundation for power, agility, and endurance in every sport—and they brought the energy from sunrise to sunset.
By 6:15, beds were made, and by 6:30, we were off on our 30-minute morning run and stretch. To really wake up, we kicked things off with 50 Burpees—because why not start strong? After a hearty breakfast, it was time for our Leg Routine. Coach Jimmy Krupka led the squad through 16 leg-crushing exercises—from slow-motion backwards tuck walks (yep, two whole minutes of those!) to full-speed hill sprints. The effort was real. So were the next 50 Burpees.
By 10:00 AM, our legs were toast and our spirits were high. We split into four groups to take on agility training. The legendary Quickfeet Slalom was firing on all cylinders, while the Dual Obstacle Course challenged everyone with six elements to conquer. We dialed in our reaction speed with Blazepods and tested next-level footwork on the iconic Berg Und Thal octagonal agility machine.
Then came a well-earned lunch—packed with nutrients and calories to refuel—and our first notebook meeting, where we dove into the basics of sports physiology. We also welcomed a special guest: Kira Heibert, ELITEAM alum and local legend. She shared her inspiring journey of injury, rehab, and what it means to come back stronger in both body and mind.
The afternoon was all about core, leg, and arm strength—each with a focus on perfect form and control. And yes, we added another 50 Burpees to the count.
Next, it was time to gear up for tomorrow’s big Mountain Bike Adventure—a quick bike check and then… surprise! With 15 minutes left, we turned on the fun: a Water Balloon Challenge and the fan-favorite Slip N Slide!
We ended the day with high-energy Dodgeball, some Agility Pole action, and one final push to reach our goal: 200 Burpees total for the day! The boys’ Dorm Parent put it best: “Last night was the easiest Dorm Parent job I’ve ever had—I didn’t hear a peep after 9:01!”
It was the Boy’s turn to fill out the Blogs and here is what some of them said.
What was the highlight of your day?
- Jeffrey: Doing the slip and slide, and when I was cooking in dodgeball.
- Benjamin H: Burpees because they push my limit.
- Brayden B: leg/core/arm rotations – I definitely pushed my limits.
- Zeke: When we raced down the quick feet slalom because it was so competitive.
- Kai: The highlight of my day was the backwards tuck walk. It was my highlight because I learned I can do hard things.
- Chip: My highlight of the day was dodgeball because I could pelt my coaches.
- Callan: Dinner ,because I got a break and could rest.
Describe running the Quickfeet Slalom?
- Jeffrey: It can be hard if you get ahead of your feet.
- Benjamin H: It was very fast paced and got me very excited for next season.
- Brayden B: There is a high chance you will fall so stay on balance.
- Zeke: Fast paced, lots of mobility – Love you Mom!
- Kai: It was very quick, you had to move quickly with your hands up and then run a hill sprint.
- Chip: Super fast feet and tons of agility
- Callan: It was like a downhill and I was hitting the gates out of the way.
What did you learn about Strength training today that will help you be better at your sport?
- Jeffrey: It can help you be better because you could hold a tuck longer in a ski race.
- Benjamin H: Always keep pushing and embrace the burn because it will always pay off.
- Brayden B: It will help me be faster by strengthening my legs.
- Zeke: Holding a tuck during the second leg workout made me realize how important it was to have powerful legs.
- Kai: I learned that cross training was very good. Such as swimming may help you shoot a lax ball faster because it works your lats.
- Chip: I learned how hard it was, I also learned how important leg strength is.
- Callan: If your push ups look like a “T” you’re doing it wrong.
