2018 WC2 Thurs- Nerve Wracking but So Fun

July 19, 2018 by ELITEAM Leave a Comment

Today at ELITEAM…

We sprinted. Our “FASTER” challenge today was to sprint one mile. To complete the task, we broke it down into seventeen 100 yrd sprints throughout the day. Our last sprint was done in our “Duct Tape & Denim” costumes, which made it tough for those with duct taped pants! OUR FINAL SPRINT- VIDEO

Today, we split the camp into two and each group was able to push their mental limits in the ropes course and their physical limits in the gym and on the field. In the ropes course, each camper completed four high elements, testing their goal setting, stress management, focus and breathing skills. The most fun was watching the pairs of campers team up for the two partner challenges. One of them is called The Tango where they must “dance” together to reach the other side. The rule was to pair up, one girl with one boy. At first they hardly acknowledged each other, but by the end, they were dancing across hand in hand. Spotify’s “Tango Playlist” helped inspire the dancers.

For the physical activities, we started with a tough uphill leg routine. Many campers mentioned the backwards tuck walk, where they go “low and slow” with legs burning. From the hill they went to the Quick Feet SL, the Pogo-Stick Arena, and finally, the minute long obstacle course in the gym.

Suffice it to say both the campers and coaches are ready for a treat and a night off. So we dressed up in Denim & Duct Tape, ate ice cream and Ooey Gooey Muffins, crowned our Limbo Champions and finally sat down to watch “Miracle”, the most inspiring sports movie ever. We hope they’ll be inspired to dig deep tomorrow at “Sufferfest”.

What was your favorite activity today and why?

Sam L- The indoor obstacle course, because it challenged me mentally and physically. Also running off the wall was awesome.
Carter S- Vertical playpen , because it was really fun and exhilarating to be up there, also I got up quickly.
Paul B- It was the ropes course because it made me push my limits.
Louie B- The ropes because there were many options.
Shane C- Obstacle course, it was really fun to go as fast as I could.
Ben H- The obstacle course cause Jose chucked balls at me.
Luck W- The high ropes course because it was challenging but when you finished it felt good. Slalom was fun because it fun trying to beat your own time.
Tommy W- The ropes courses because you had to just send it and believe you could do it.
Madelyn B- The dangle duo because me and my friend had to work together. We pulled and pushed each other and we made it!
Cate H- The ropes course because it was fun to climb different obstacles and reach my goal.
Meredith M- Ropes course because I accomplished more than I thought I could.

What was your most challenging moment today and how did you push through it?

Sam L- The pogo sticking. I was really bad though I managed to get 10 in a row.
Carter S- My most challenging moment today was the tango because I was blind folded and had no idea where I was.
Paul B- It was the sprints because they are tiring.
Louie B- The limbo because my back hurt a lot.
Shane C- Doing the sprints, trying to beat everyone around me.
Ben H- The uphill tuck walks because you had to keep form. I pushed through it by just going full send.
Luke W- The vertical playpen because it was hard.
Tommy W- The vertical playpen because I am afraid of heights.
Madelyn B- The tango because my partner and I were both blindfolded and we cam so close to falling!
Cate H- The vertical playpen because my arms got super tired and I didn’t want to finish but I did because it was my goal.
Meredith M- My most challenging moments today were the sprints because I had to persevere and work hard to run fast in the heat.

Which ropes course element was the most fun and why?

Sam L- The jump pad because I felt like I was flying.
Carter S- The launch pad was the most fun because you could hit the buoy in different ways.
Paul B- The launching pad because I kicked the ball which I have never done.
Louie B- The vertical playpen was the most fun because of the challenge.
Shane C- The Launching pad because I could just jump with no worries and I hit the ball with my head.
Ben H- The launching pad was the most fun because I was able to head butt it.
Luke W- The dangle duo because you and your partner needed to be on the same mind set.
Tommy W- The launch pad because it felt natural to just jump and have fun.
Madelyn B- The dangle duo was the most fun because I felt so accomplished at the end!
Cate H- I liked the launch pad because it feels like you are flying.
Meredith M- The Launching Pad was the most fun element because it was a bit nerve wracking but so fun.
