2018 WC1 Friday- Difficult and Awesome

July 14, 2018 by ELITEAM Leave a Comment

Today at ELITEAM we…

Suffered! This morning was “Sufferfest”. One of our most difficult, but fun workouts. It included Box Jumps, Push-ups, Sprints, Tuck Jumps, and then five ROCK exercises to pay homage to our “STRONGER” theme. The toughest may have been the Rock Squats as even Coach Eva said her legs were fried. We finished off the workout with a refreshing riverwalk and highly competitive “duck race”. That adventure lasted all morning and we barely made it to lunch on time.

After lunch we covered Sports Nutrition in our notebook meeting and continued to add to our Journal entries so you won’t miss reading about everything we’ve accomplished this week. Next we hopped on the bus and headed for Sandpits, another camper favorite! The course was set faster than year’s past with rhythm changes galore. There were a few crashes for sure, but overall the competition was tight. The highlight of the finals was a somersault mid-race by Isak, but he rolled out of it in perfect form.

Before dinner, and in an effort to win dorm points, but also to impress the girls dorm, the boys all headed over to the dining hall early to set the tables, complete with silverware, napkins and flowers on every table. They were seated and ready when the girls arrived and invited them to eat first. It seems this group of 46 young athletes has gelled into a TEAM.

The fun continued in the evening with “crazy relays” and the Jello Drop. Can’t believe WC1 is almost over! The kids are happy… and exhausted. Perfect. 😉

What was the best part of Sufferfest today and why?

Jackie- I liked everything. Normally I hate sprints but I actually enjoyed them because I know it only made me stronger, tougher, fitter, faster.
Nick- I liked the lunges because they stretched my legs and made me stronger.
Lily M- It was the motivation that everyone around used to lift each other up. I like this for many reasons. One being the team spirit.
Griffin- I liked the rock squats because it made me push harder then I thought I could.
Isak- I liked the hill sprints because the people in front of me really pushed me through the finish.
Brenna- Box jumps because they were super fun and simple but they also were challenging towards the end.
Lucas- All of it. All of the things that we did during Sufferfest pushed my limits and helped me become stronger.
Ginger- The pushups because I pushed my limits.
Catie- The river walk because it was an awesome way to cool down after such a hard workout!
Kate L- The rock squats because when we held it, it hurt like heck, but the whole time I knew I was getting stronger by the second.
Tucker- Sufferfest was wicked awesome and I thought the best part was the rock twists.
Timmy- That you made us push ourselves.
Morgan- Finishing because it felt so good to be done and to know that you did it all to the MAX.
Emme- The last 20 squats because you were tired but it was a good tired.

What did you learn about yourself this week?

Liam- I learned that if I push myself and am smart about my planning, I can do crazy stuff like 100 pushups.
Lincoln- That I can push through when I am feeling down.
Carly- That if I really try hard, I can do it.
George F- To always push my limits, to eat healthy, and have confidence.
Kate K- That I can persevere through the hard stuff.
Brenna- I learned that if you dig deep and don’t give up you can get through tough challenges that you may of thought you could never do.
Ford- I learned that I have energy that I have energy that I usually don’t tap into but can when I push myself.
Catie- If you believe in yourself, you can do anything. I also learned that positivity helps you as well as others.
Maddie- Pushing my limits will help me be that much better and if I want to quit I need to have a different mindset and keep trucking on.
Winter- Push my limits and jump out of my comfort way further than I thought I could.

ELITEAM is…

Andrew- A learning, tough, fun, crazy camp.
Nick- Fun and it helps your fitness a ton.
Lincoln- Hard, fun and good for you.
George M- Fun but hard because you have to push your limits every day.
Molly H- Hard, but in the end it is all worth it because you are able to grow not only as an athlete, but as a person.
Lily M.- The struggle that makes you strong.
George F- Probably the best summer camp I’ve been to.
Griffin- Fun and very hard at the same time.
Kate K- Difficult and awesome.
Noi- The Greatest thing on Earth!
Lucas- By far the best camp ever.
Paige- Fun but also tough, but we had plenty of water breaks.
Catie- The best way to get mentally and physically stronger and that everything can be made into something fun!
Kate L- A place to stretch your comfort zone, get stronger both physically and mentally, and sweat your brains out!
Maddie- A place to meet friends and learn about your body. A place to try new stuff and be fitter, faster, stronger and tougher.
Weston- An awesome place to grow mentally and physicallt to achieve your dreams.
Monty- An experience I will remember for the rest of my life.
